I am a Poet
These lines rhyme in metrical time
I am a Poet
I slay this clay of words, as I wrestle this vessel of syllables.
I am a Poet
Irritable imagery of my past misery.
I am a Poet
I make meaning out of the meaningless.
I am a Poet
The moon crescent is my adolescence.
I am a Poet
I wrap light from the dead of night.
I am a Poet
Each inhale is a rhythmic exhale
I am a Poet
These thumbs drum a song that will not be so long gone.
I am a Poet
Because the one whose Name became my reframe.
