Thorns and Shadows
To live is to give.
To take is like the snake, lying to Eden.
The blood that was shed.
Led to life.
Without strife.
Thorns wrapped around his head.
Treading the hope of life.
The grave undone, the serpent’s tongue broke.
Nothing, nothing, nothing.
Shadows surround the soul, as they take their toll.
What’s at stake?
The atoms are alive in their wake.
Stones cry out, the stars beam until the end of time.
And I, a flicker, wonder if my light will give or take.
The void cries out, yet I remain.
Unstain like a flowing river.
Was it wrath that paved the path to my salvation?
The rain of blood bloomed the flowers of hope?
The Earth quaked from the snake’s mouth.
Were we determined before the foundation of the world?
Turtles on turtles.
What choice do I have?
The grave gave the final answer.
