Where Is Jesus Today?

Where is Jesus today?
Is He here to stay?
The children play and say,
“Where is Jesus today?”

The debt I have unmet to the lender.

Is He in the alley, the market,
the courtroom, the hospital bed?
Instead, He is there
where three are gathered.

In the crowded streets,
the preacher preaches.
Gather here
for my Master’s teaches.

Seek, knock, and ask
and you will find Me.

So where is Jesus today,
in every broken way?

Is He with the insane,
where whispers never rest?
Or, is He with those
who are trying their best?

It is plain
that the insane can find Him.
The world calls them insane,
but He calls them by name.

Who’s to blame
when He is called by name?

Where is Jesus today?
Will He come out to play?
Will He be here to stay?

He is here,
in the breath
between despair and prayer.
